Calapogonium Caeruleum (CC)

Calopogonium caeruleum is a twiner and creeper cover crop with a tolerance for poor soil. It has rapid initial growth and dies off during the dry weather and is a prolific seeder. Seed rate is about 3.0 to 4.5 kg/ha.

Macuna Conchinensis (MC)

The plant is a climbing shrub with long vines that can reach over 15 m in length. When the plant is young, it is almost completely covered with fuzzy hairs, but when older, it is almost completely free of hairs. The leaves are tripinnate, ovate, reverse ovate, rhombus-shaped or widely ovate. The sides of the leaves are often heavily grooved and the tips are pointy. The stems of the leaflets are two to three millimeters long.

Calapogonium Mucunoides (CM)

It is a twinner and creeper with tolerance for poor soils. The legume cuts off during dry months. It is a prolic seeder; Calopogonium mucunoides has large leaf. It very vigorous growth and germinate through seed. Used for growth and seed production. Not very persistent under drought conditions. Used for quick LCP cover establishment. Seeding rate 4-6 kg/ha. Fixes atmospheric Nitrogenn. Shade tolerant and persists where Pueraria has been shaded out.

Prureria Javanica (PJ)

A very popular cover crop worldwide. It is a vigorous twiner and creeper that can be propagandized by seeds and cuttings. The Plant can stand strong sun and smothers weeds ever Chromolena. The seed rate is about 3-4.5 kg/ha.

Centrosema Pubesens (CP)

It is a perennial climber that can grow in shades. It is a slow grower, not tolerant to wet conditions and smothers other weeds. The seed rate is 3-4.5 per ha.

Macuna Bratatae (MB)

A wild legume Mucuna bracteata collected is drought resistant and shade tolerant. Nitrogen fixing capacity of this was found to be high. It grows fast and covers the field very quickly thus, it suppresses all weeds. Lower seed rate of two seedlings took 30 percent longer time for longer coverage. In a stand of 136 palms per hectare, only 408 M. bracteata seedlings or 75g of seeds were required per hectare. Care was taken to plant the seedlings during wet weather. To provide faster soil coverage is recommended to be sown along with conventional covers e.g. Pueraria phaseoloides.
